Checking an ARY Gold Bar

What each bar carries

This matters because it decides what you inspect. On a 10 tola bar there is no packaging to examine — the serial number and QR code are the reference points. On packaged bars, the packaging and its tamper indication are central.

ARY 10 tola bar

The ARY 10 tola bar — the piece is not packed or sealed. It carries a unique serial number and a QR code.

So the checks are: read the serial number, confirm it is legible and recorded on your receipt, and use the QR code to look the bar up through the manufacturer's own verification system. Do not expect packaging, and do not treat its absence as a problem — this size is not supplied packaged.

ARY Millat small bars

ARY Millat gold bars work the other way round. They are sealed and packed, with a tamper or void indication built into the packaging. They do not carry a QR code, and they do not carry an individual serial number.

The packaging is therefore what you examine:

• Is it unopened and intact?
• Has the tamper or void indication been triggered?
• Is there any sign the packaging has been cut, re-sealed or altered?

Do not accept a packaged bar whose packaging has been opened, tampered with, or whose tamper or void indication shows that it has been compromised. That indication exists so a buyer can see the condition of the packaging at a glance. If it has been triggered, stop and raise it with the seller.

Simba 10 tola bar

The Simba 10 tola bar is also not packed or sealed. Like its ARY counterpart it carries a unique serial number and a QR code, and those are what it is checked against.

Simba smaller bars

Simba smaller bars are packaged, and they carry more than the ARY equivalents: unique serial numbers and QR codes, as well as a tamper or void indication on the packaging. That means both sets of checks apply — inspect the packaging and its tamper indication, and separately verify the serial number and QR code through the manufacturer's system.

The same rule holds: if the packaging has been opened or the tamper or void indication has been triggered, do not accept the bar.

How verification actually works

Where a serial number or QR code is provided, it gives you a way to look the bar up. Checking it means going to the manufacturer's own verification system, or to the manufacturer directly. They issued the bar; they are the source that can speak to what they issued.

Two things worth being plain about. A QR code by itself does not prove a bar is genuine — it is a lookup method, and what matters is what the lookup returns. And we do not certify ARY or Simba bars and are not an official verifier for either manufacturer. We are a bullion dealer. We sell these bars, we buy them back, and we will go through any of these checks with you at the counter.

What to do before you accept a bar

1. Establish which bar it is. Brand and size decide what to check — see the table above.
2. Packaged bar: inspect the packaging and the tamper or void indication before anything else.
3. Serial number, where provided: legible, and recorded on your receipt.
4. QR code, where provided: use it to check through the manufacturer's verification system.
5. Weight and purity should agree with what you are being sold.
6. Your receipt should record brand, weight, serial where one exists, and the rate used.

Why it is worth the few minutes

Verification protects resale. A bar whose serial checks out, or whose packaging is intact, trades on the rate. Anything uncertain gets assessed instead — not a disaster, but slower, and valued on the day rather than as marked. It is the same reason we publish what we pay on buy-back before you buy rather than after.
