Each time we change a rate, the new figure is filed with the date and time it took effect. The record builds day by day — useful for checking what you paid, or for seeing which way the market has been moving.
A rate you can check afterwards is a rate you can trust at the time. Customers use the archive to confirm what they paid, to settle family arithmetic on an old purchase, and to see whether today sits high or low against recent weeks. Entries are written the moment we change a rate, with the date and time, and they are never edited afterwards.
